I check these sites like saying my bedtime prayers... and why have I not heard of these sites before blows my mind. I never buy anything, but for some reason it has molded its way into my daily scheduled... Although i do find it easier to convince myself to waste money on random things... but one thing that i do like about fab.com is that features a good amount of smaller businesses and im all about supporting the little guys... woot woot..

these are merely some tools that I use like a religion.. so much that i am known to sometimes pray to them instead of god.. I call these "things" TOOLS because that is exactly what they are... Tool - n - anything used as a means of accomplishing a task or purpose. (and the fact that electronics sounds so geeky..)

These "tools" grants me the capability to capture a ridiculous amount of images of my dog, the food im served, buildings i pass, and that crazy lady on the subway... tools that help me to navigate through this crazy city as if ive lived here for years and at the same time allows me to connect back to my family when my heart is a bit homesick...

its obvious that Steve Jobs has not only impacted my life, but the lives of probably the entire world... all i can say is iThankYou...

I REALLY enjoyed this movie..

I expected this movie to be your typical chick flick.. but when a friend recommended it and said I'd really enjoy it.. I said.. "eh why not!" I have a mound of movie passes that needs to be used before I jet of to the big apple..

my thoughts? Totally not what I expected! I loved it! Written and directed by Woody Allen, you would think what the heck was he thinking with Owen Wilson? Wrong! The story was sort of drawn out and some what depressing, but throw in a light hearted comedian.. and voila! Don't get me wrong.. this is a love story, but not your courted, hot passionate, tear jerking love story.. This kind of fantasy is focused on things one is passionate about.. the things/thoughts that make you tick, give you goose bumps, and gets ya all excited inside... For him: writing.

If you like/love the Fitzgeralds, Hemingway, Stein, Picasso, Toulouse-Lautrec... you'll like this movie...

Ever since Beauty & the Beast was hammering into every little girls fantasies, there is something magical about in home libraries that just gets me.. the feeling you get when skimming through the titles of each book while imagining the secrets and stories that fill the room... (i just made myself sound creepy..)

this odd attraction is probably derived from my nerdy dad who constantly had his nose in a book. not to mention his homemade bookshelf that consist of cinder blocks and ply wood.... or possibly deriving from my childhood home in kailua, which had a built in bookshelf in my room... i remember on boring sundays after watching some sort of disney vhs saga.. i would monkey climb the wall to inspect each and every shelf.. probably in hopes of finding a portal to the Hawaii entrance to the Lion, Witch, and the wardrobe... how I would love to get lost in Narnia...

gahhh... how i missed her..

Adele is seriously one of my favorite artists... like the type id jump into a hysterical fit if i ever got to see her perform... Meeting her would be even better... Along with: michael buble, beyonce, eminem (technically did already while in the pit at this years grammy's), the cast of Glee, and the growing fave.. Florence + the machine.. (an odd range of fave's i know... i'll go ahead and raise an eyebrow at myself..)

Her newest track "Rolling in the Deep" has been my new anthem at work... blasting this song on repeat gets me through those endless purchase orders.. Just the beat itself gets my mood bumpin...

loving this video... love the rippling of the water glasses and the fluid warrior dancer..

now tell me what girl couldn't relate to both of these songs? these two movies..

thanks to the low definitions of ineedpopcorn.com my wallet is still full.. but through the foggy haze from my laptop, these movies were amazing... with a LOT of sexual activity...

overall, a GREAT movie... i would have liked to seen a clearer view of their faces, so i could really see the emotion given in the movie.. but i guess thats what i get when i skip the $10.75+ price tag in the big theater.. so i guess this will do until it comes out on dvd...

mila was definitely hot in this one.. on an acting level this is an insanely good movie that id like to research more.. you could definitely sense the determination, desperation, and psychotic spiral once could face if mentally pushed themselves too far.. got me all squeamish through parts of the movie..

this one is next on my list... if it gets released in the US.. ETA for release date in UK is jan 14th 2011...

as i indulge in all that im missing from ny fashion week i couldn't help but noticed that a few designers had a paper mache overload... (most tastefully done)

i was completely floored and sadden to hear one of my favorite and most inspirational designers had taken his own life. it makes me sad that this world has lost someone with so much creativity and talent... i wish there were more people in this world that had the courage like mcqueen did to defy the ordinary and expressed his vision while staying true to himself...

Health:

1. Drink plenty of water.

2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.

3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants & has to be killed, bled, cured, aged, smoked, fried, or frozen

4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy.

5. Make time to pray...

6. Play more games. Feed the birds. Plant flowers or vegetables- even in a pot.

most people crack at the sight of a banana split or a sip of vodka... (im one of em, the things you could get me to do for ice cream & liqour) so here's my stab at 2010... ive been pretty fut-less lately with my life's achievements so hopefully i'll keep the flame burning and not cope out when someone dangles a brownie in front of my face....

my new years resolution:

1. to continue to achieve the dreams that were instilled into me, while still being me.

(which hopefully includes an awesome job in nyc, that pays an amazing salary, that comes with an gorg loft in the city... red brick walls preferred... & my bf, urple, & mia in hand is the icing on the cake...

(one can only hope..)

2. to exercise more/eat less

(what human being does NOT say this during the new year? admit it.. we are all a inner fatty..)

(good for the body)

3. to wear my heels

(i have a semi problematic fetish of collecting shoes that I say... "im going to wear when I go out..." problem is: i never go out..... however, you gotta admit its a good work out for the hips, buns, & thighs... negs: blisters..)

4. to travel more

(vegas is feb & nyc in march! woot woot)

5. save more $

(guess the shoes & travel hurts this one.. )

Even though my friend kristin has the fun costume this year of being Max from where the wild things are....im secretly jealous and wish i could of stole her idea.. (i mean who wouldn't want to run around like a 7yr old in a furry jumpsuit with a crown?? add some booze and your set!) but i have to focus on promoting a new project im working on.. So me and my lil sidekick mia will be strolling the mall as geishas while passing out business cards... (hopefully i'll be able to walk properly in my geta)

I got inspired when I took a post graduation trip to China & Japan.. where i loved/blown away by all the cute fabrics prints that japan had to offer and the insane amounts of of people who clothed their dogs..this instantly reminded me of my wacky mother her dresses her two tibetian terriers daily to compensate her sadness that her two kids are no longer living at home. After pitching the idea to the mum and buying enough fabric to create a fire hazard in my living room there was no turning back..

while up on one of my buying trips... the lil roomie and i made a must needed stop to the new opening ceremony in LA.... there i fell in love..

the lil roomie urple.. introduced me the designer brand:

when she saw me grasping/semi-drooling at this PS1 bag contemplating throwing down 2k for this baby.. thank god reality set in and i realized i definitely did not have 2k to throw down in the first place...

if anyone knows me, you'd know that im a psycho die hard for animals.. especially doggies.. (i literally start speaking a different "animal" language when i see a 4 legged furry friend, like i was in church or something..)

i am practically banned by my family and bf (and his family) to go to pet stores because I tend to get filled with such overpowering excitement that turns me into moldable putty.. resulting in me looking like a sucker to the sales people. Sadly, whoever was lucky enough to join me in this adventure (usually the bf) suddenly ends up carrying a breathing "thing" in their hands while i skip down the aisle picking out all the things this furry lil friend HAS to have.. i tend to bring home doggies thinking they'll be the perfect gift for someone... it doesn't always lead to the imagined "perfect" ending i had hoped for.. (hence the banning from pet stores)

what can i say.. i love these creatures and i want everyone to love them as much as i do.. (would you call this an obsessive addiction?) how can anyone not love a poochie that gives unconditional love, an encouraging lick to get you out of bed, and above all that unexpected uncontrollable smile you get by just looking at them....

i officially booked my first acting gig!!

so the story is, i auditioned a few weeks back for a tiny role in a cool indie film. (yes, i secretly signed with an agent and have been taking acting classes for the past 6 months...) the funny/awkward thing is that i am also interning with them in their costuming dept. my manager/agent called me to tell me about this audition I got for a small indie film... randomly it was the same project. (can you imagine the weirdness when i came in for my audition.. yep...)

im super stoked and even though i have only a few lines, i hope i fulfill their expectations of a young teenage floozy.. hehe (i think have enough past memories that i can bring out my inner flirt).

the best thing of all, the staff is so cool and amazing.. i love my costume designer who has worked on countless films as Morgan Freeman's personal costume designer and who I am secretly begging for her to adopt me as her new love child and take me along everywhere she goes... (desperate? you bet!)

things are looking up and hopefully will open the doors to bigger and better things!!!

have you ever woke up one day and just wanted bail out like a nutt head in a psycho ward?....no.. its just me?

well that has been my life for the past few months.. there is just a part of me that yearns for more fabulousness in my life.. (i.e. a better job in fashion, a paycheck that i can agree with, and the ability to shop at all times of the day) and thankfully my recent trip to NYC has accelerated these urges..... like all those viagra commercials thats flooded our televisons... yeah..... imagine what's going on in my head...

while watching the tony awards, i finally had the urge to put these thoughts into words:

1. i will move out of hawaii...

east coast or west coast???..

well that's been put into a whirl wind of confusion..

(don't ask.. my bf, mother, neighbor, roommate, the bum on the side walk all asks me everyday, which one... ) IDK yet peeps!!

2. to work on TV/Film/Broadway as a Costume Designer

(now if they happen to ask me to act a little, hey why would i complain with that? I'll be JLo's butt double..)

3. Travel the world....

I just love traveling... what can i say... there is so much to see, to learn, to take in, to shop, and definitely to EAT!

(in my opinion the last 2 are the best part of being alive)

4. if #2 doesn't work out... any job that involves the below:

-a LA or NYC zip code (europe is good too)

-constant traveling to the places stated above.

-and obviously the creative end of FASHION!

5. after i achieve the above i will be ridiculously

rich where i can live the abnormal life of carrie bradshaw..

minus the constant nudity of her friends....

as you can see they are very broad and how i will divide these goals up into tasks.. well lets just say im working on it... i'll leave that for another self loathing blog....

when told was that business casual was required for most of our time in NYC...gasp!!.. i almost had an out-of-body experience... what fashion consious being would care to wear business casual outfits when traveling to NYC ?? not to mention most of us don't even own a pair of slacks or a button down shirt.. we live in hawaii for god's sake.. booriinggg

in the midst of deleting all the pre-planned NYC outfits out of my mind, i hear my teacher say "blah blah... wear comfortable shoes... blah blah"... huh??....flash backs of blisters from previous traveling adventures... ohh no...

Honestly, where in the universe can you find a pair of feirce "business casual" shoes that don't : 1. cripple your feet resulting to you walking like your barbie with knees that don't bend..or..2. the pair that relays the fashion statement equivilent to your grandmothers dinner shoes?

so in search for the perfect gift for my roommate urple (since urban was doing nothing friendly to my wallet), my bf's friend recommended this sick bookstore off of sunset in LA:

after the oohing and ahhing (not to mention the jumping up and down to subside my urge to piss myself) i finally found a coffee table book on warhol perfect for the girl next door.... (now if she likes/loves warhol? no clue.. but it was worth a shot...)

just received an award for undergraduate sustainable design from the international textile and apparel association (ITAA)

for my senior fashion show,

all seniors along with their line has to create 3 category garments. since this world is turning into a place where if its not environmentally friendly then you out to go to hell and burn,

we created a "go green" garment..

(you should able to figure out the rest)

funny thing..

no one cared to tell me...

found out by shamefully googling myself on a boring sunday waiting for the laundry to finish... may i add many many months later

i guess after contacting my teacher (who happened to attend the conference but somehow didn't know that his student received an award..dumb-ass) i received this nifty card-stock award... sadly i wasn't good enough for the scholarship check... crap.. that could have solved some problems..

I just finished reading the GQ article on mr. rob pattinson

(my very secret indulgence, however in this article he seems a bit manic depressant or just strange),

when I came across this amazing article on Alexander McQueen from the refinery29 blog.

i love this quote that the ny times quotes mcqueen on:

what i also love about mcqueen is that he can put on a show...

I haven't kept myself very up to date with fashion week..

-being sick

-having fall orders due

and

-house sitting a house that has a jungle for a back yard isn't too comforting..

(yeah, who gives a f about my safety.. i'll just sneeze on the intruder)

although i felt like death today, i did drag myself out of bed to my Hurley appt. to view the juniors fall 09 line..

as you know (you may not know).. hurley is one of my favorite surf brands... i love the fact that they mix men's with women's wear to keep their look comfy, relaxed, and fashion forward... hurley calls there look: "tomboy pretty"

i adore this description, i feel that my personal style reflects this.. im not all girl.. just part time butch..hehehe..(not in the literal sense.)

fall 09, Hurley's "inspiration" was to mix and match the up to date fashions of your typical hurley girl combined with the crap in they're boyfriends closet. (personally there is absolutely nothing in my bf's closet that id like to wear...)

I am constantly complaining about how this wonderful economy is screwing with the enjoyment of my job...

-from the constant nagging from all stores being unhappy for any possible reason that requires them to use their brain.

-to endless repetition of my boss' "smart ass" remarks. even though you warned him like

5 months ago..

-to fighting with the vendors because your not

meeting last yrs buys... in addition that you are requesting a heap load of RTV's and/or Markdown $..

basically just write my company a big fat check cuz your shit aint selling...

here's one mind blowing conversation:

vendor: "since we our businesses have such a great relationship, we will join together so that we can create profit for both of our businesses in the bad economy"

me: "great what did you have in mind?"

vendor: "if you double your buys with us, we will give you a 60% IMU"

me: (Choking) "you need to talk to my boss"

i don't see how doubling my buys and doubling my inventory to the sizes of macy's inventory (who i might add has moved there entire buying divisions to the east coast...thank you god!!) is completely insane!!!

so yesterday i was hanging out with thy mum in neiman marcus.

as we were checking out the wonderful products of shu uemura (next upcoming blog).. i couldn't resist the designer shoe section five feet away from me... it was like a drug drawing me into the dark side...

the first shoe section i hit was of course mr. louboutin... i think i touched every single shoe, until i came across these two:

christian louboutin-double platform sandal ($1,045.00)

..and..

christian louboutin- platform cage sandal ($995.00)

to indulge myself i tried these two on while my mom drooled over a pair of manolos.. (the sales person was ecstatic with hopes of my purchase)

in the words of mrs. rachel zoe:

"..i died.."

both fit beautifully, fitting every inch of my arc comfortably.. these shoes made my small stature of 4'11" a full 4-5inches taller and slimming out my stubby gymnastics legs... i have never seen myself with the illusion of long skinny legs.. again..

..i died..

i honestly had to convince my self out of bolting out the neiman doors with these shoes on..unfortunately leaving my mom in the dust... but lucky i got a grip.. i guess the image of my mug shot brought me back to reality..

so i have come to the conclusion that one day i will own more then one pair of these babies... my current short goal for my career is to smuggle up enough money (continuously) so i can begin a sick new love affair with mr. louboutin.

i learned a really cool life lesson today

and i feel the need to share..

while i was previewing the new fall/holiday 09 Dakine line the rep and i came across the conversation of the people i work with. After answering with umms and grunts he shared with me something he learned back when he was a prep for a restaurant.

rep: people are like spices...

me: huh?

rep: yeah, each person is their own spice.

me: (looking completely confused & thinking this guy is nutts)

rep: when I was a prep at this restaurant, I asked the chef: "how to do you create all these meals? does it just come to you?" So the chef brought out all of his spices and set them on the table and asked me to try them one by one. Some where bitter, some where sweet.. some where just completely nasty..

then the chef had me try things together.. and they combined created a whole different taste. resulting in the chef's theory that a single spice may not be anything great by themselves, but when combines with numerous spices you create a masterpiece to the tastebuds.

me: thinking...

rep: So we are all a different "spice"... we have our own personality.. Some people are bitter & nasty by themselves and we can't stand being around them..(not forgetting the complaining and shit talking that comes with it..) But when combined with another "spice" who brings different qualities to the table... something great is created!

me: jaw dropped...

lesson for the day...

each person is their own different & unique self.. whether they are a complete ass hole, a tight wad, a push over, a ass kisser, a sweet talker, or even just a plain hard worker...

(believe me i could go on with the name calling)

we are who we are...

but even the most grueling aspect of one person could be the greatest marriage of personalities with another.. it works for businesses, relationships, and even friendships... by just stepping out of the box and thinking "how can "this" help?" there's the possibility of that light at the end of the tunnel...

get some ear plugs... just in case.. :)
